Privacy Policy
Effective November 5, 2026
Mental Health of Miami Inc. ("Mental Health of Miami," "we," "us") provides outpatient mental health counseling to clients in Florida through virtual sessions. This policy explains what information we collect through our website, phone line and text messages, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Your health information is also protected by HIPAA. Once you become a client, how we use and share your health information is described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which clients receive at intake. Call us at 786-738-6468 for a copy. If this policy and that notice ever differ about your health information, the Notice of Privacy Practices controls.
Information we collect
- Contact form. Your name, email, phone number and the message you write. Please don't include health details in the form. Call us at 786-738-6468 instead.
- Phone calls. Your phone number, and what you tell us when you call. Calls to our main line may be answered by an automated phone assistant that works on our behalf. It tells you this at the start of the call. Calls may be recorded and transcribed so we can schedule your appointment and return your message.
- Text messages. Your mobile number, your consent to receive texts, and the messages we exchange about your appointments.
- Website use. Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which uses cookies the site needs to work and gives us basic, combined visitor statistics. Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, which collects information about your device and use under Google's privacy policy. We don't use advertising trackers on our website.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and schedule, confirm, change or cancel appointments
- To send the appointment text messages you agreed to receive
- To provide, bill for and manage your care, as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices
- To keep our website, phone line and records secure, and to meet legal requirements
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the practice, such as our scheduling, phone, text messaging, email and website providers. They may use it only to provide services to us. Providers that handle health information do so under a HIPAA business associate agreement. We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Text messaging
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for aggregators and providers of the text message services. We do not sell or share your mobile number for marketing.
You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help, or call 786-738-6468. Our texts contain scheduling details only, such as your first name and appointment time, never clinical information. Standard text messages are not encrypted, so please don't text us health details. Call us instead. The full text-message terms are in our Terms of Use.
How long we keep it
We keep contact-form messages, call records and text messages only as long as we need them to schedule and serve you, or as long as the law requires. Clinical records are kept as Florida law requires.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive health information through our website form or by text.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13. Parents or guardians arrange care for minors and provide their information.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text to stop texts.
- Ask us to update or delete the information you sent through our website or by text. Contact us below.
- Clients have additional rights over their health records (access, amendment and more), explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Not for emergencies
Our website, phone messages and texts are not monitored around the clock. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
