Denise Martinez

Student Resident

Denise Martinez is a psychology student at Carlos Albizu University attaining her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Ms. Martinez earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida International University in 2014. With a rich background spanning over a decade, Ms. Martinez brings extensive experience to the Mental Health field. In her most recent position, Ms. Martinez worked as a Group Counselor at a Psychiatric Hospital, where she provided therapy to patients experiencing various levels of emotional trauma. Prior to this position, Ms. Martinez worked as a behavior therapist, providing therapy to both children and adolescents.  

Ms. Martinez believes in a humanistic approach to therapy. She is solution-focused and utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques in guiding her clients towards self-awareness and unlocking their true potential. Ms. Martinez has a natural ability in working with others, as she is attentive, kind, and understanding. In addition, Ms. Martinez has a deep love for music and is a professional dancer, specializing in Middle Eastern Dance. Over the years, she has acquired the skill of integrating body movements to release stored trauma, achieve balance, and foster a connection between the mind and body.
